How to make a sustainable art studio
So, I have been wondering how I might be able to make my contribution to carbon-footprint reducing by greening up my studio. There are a few things that I won’t do- making handbags out of gum wrappers and sewing together scraps of bad paintings to make new ones are just a few of them. But what are some other things that I can do that don’t make me cringe?
1. I want to find a local, paint supplier that makes their paints. If those paints are in someway more green than the usual acrylic/oil paints then even better. Any one tried soy-based solvents?
2. Buy locally to cut down on shipping (reducing carbon footprint), even though ASW.com is the cheapest place eva and I love it.
3. Buy brushes made from recycled materials. Is it even worth it? What I don’t know is if it would be better to buy local, handmade brushes or buy a recycled brush from far away.
